6:30pm Was sitting in the lodge bummed that the Kp was at 2 , forecast was for rain.
90% cloud cover out the window.
A low west ok sunset but most people had given up. Even some of guides canceled.
7:22 - After finishing searching the apps and websites I gave up and stepped outside.
BAM POP ....85% clear...stars...Whoo Hoo!. Run to cabin, inhale sandwich, grab coat. Run to field. Sit down alone with very good Karma feeling.
8:00 now 100% clear with some funny light, white, ¿green ? hints to the north and East...over yurt.
I’m at A Taste of Alaska Lodge sitting alone out in the field with clear sky.
How compress and describe a historic over 3 hour show.
Nicole, the great local guide shows up. Makes s’mores at about 10:00.
11:40 I notice hint of light over yurt to East.
12:22 Nicole’s camera shows Green. Ah HA! Good Trend.
1:25 I ask Theresa if I should go grab Gary, he’d gotten cold a few hrs ago.
I run the 100 feet up to lodge.
Notice two finger streaks due East.
Main part started with grabbing Gary out of bed, hauling out in his bare feet to quick peek a two finger streak,
Adds a second finger, climbs up a little.

Still sleepy we race down to chairs. He’s like in his pajamas.
1:45 streaks up up over zenith. Hits to the West.
Some mild FIREHOSE action from usual west trees connect with East
Swaths and couple napalm bombs North.

2:15 fuzzy birds, AuroralRaptors appear all over the sky dome. Maximum volume I have ever seen, 60-75% covered.
2:22 The Frying Pan starts.

‘Oh oh Wow..streaking up above....It’s BOILING OVER.. Yikes.

Ended up one of the best shows I have seen. Maximum volume, like 80% of sky was Aurora. Most motion. I got wild play by play descriptions with some actual video on my iPhone, with regular camera.
2:50 Nicole, local guide- “wow how bright and QUICK, and moving tonight,...only a handful......amazing...out of 3 dozen times I’ve seen, like, this only a handful...movement....”
3:15 AuroralRaptors fly over total sky, Nicole supplies Raptor voices...
Not as much movement but wow big BIG Shapes, more fuzzy, not as ‘crisp’ as before.
3:43 Still going, over 2 hours constant show no breaks.
3:57 head back to cabin.
Really it was the first time in over 40 shows/ nights I have ever gone in to my room when the Aurora was still working. All this on a low data cloud rainy night.
