Mom finally does some work at Chelan

Well well she’s finally got our firewood into the basement. Took a while. She had to Uber down to get more for our dinner, but made it back in time to clean up the dishes.
Glad she didn’t break her borrowed walker. Going to be 92 next month, on our way to here next job as Beach Boy down in Mazatlan. Probably won’t bring the walker there, so Gad she’ll be even slower hauling our gear to the pool. Wait for the video on that.  Bye bye for now, Brogan from Seattle

Sort of thought I'd have a lot of sit down time to make videos and post here....but always seem to be on the run.

Yesterday walked 1.8 miles to thermal beach adventure-- just great, nice dives, swims soaks. Will assemble some pics but am off to eat Again! up some cathedral tower for view in broken clouds...before a race to Helio-Port for spin in another copter-- expect at some point brother Webb will cut off our Visa card, as charges are keeping pace with eating...better a least get him an Iceland gift before we get over our card limit?? Whoops we are on travel adventure.

Quick Jump /Swim at Vardø, Norway. 7.9C water

just a hurried few jumps into cold seawater in way northern Norway.
Below link to YouTube post, 1:22 long... more to foollow, although we got up at 5am to go to North Kapp.....furthest north town in Europe, but fogged in today so only had pics of nice rocks and the One Cow.
Jump / Swim Vardø Norway

Quick jump and swim at Vardø, Norway. Sun was out and I needed a dip...only had 10 min...must not be late for NordNorge sailing...so run run...skip go to easy beach way over there...HEY LOOK here small place at quay, only 1 fisherman there...and an actual ladder, so no more climbing those ship's ropes...("lines").

Lean iPhone out over water on selfie stick..hit button ....leap 1 , fisherman has his phone out, shaking head..., crazy American??.

Tell him, yeah I'm fine, cool now. Must run to gangplank, shake water off...

Oh here is Mom with other camera...Roy says we have 8 more minutes....pull Mom down to quay, hold camera...someone yelling from ship??..

Jump 3 I run and leap out. Some passengers yell and one , at least takes good snap of me in mid air( please send it to me). 

Run run to boat... still time to grab thermometer,,run back Jump 4, temp is 7.9 C , not too cold (46F).

well we are driving  A lot and some of it off road .... even into fairly late at night searching for rural  hotels? Even went swimming  after a huge bacon cheeseburger and a pulled pork adventure....add another Duggan  water bottle finding and  it all makes for a long day .. Took us three or four loops around it crowded theater to even find today's poorly marked waterfront hotel.
So morelater at some point I hope....

Dalhalla Konserts a Wrap

We enjoyed a great 3 concerts here at Dalhalla in Rättvik, Sweden.
Each night they did basically the same numbers, as I got to know them better I enjoyed them more fully. New friends near us gave helpful hints on much of the interplay between Melena, Helen, and the other artists.
Much of the fun and also wonderfully moving talk on stage was better understood with kind translation by new friends-  Christen and Emily.
On Saturday as Melena made her fantastic grand entrance she quickly winked at us, perhaps very relieved Mom didn't attempt to follow her in again.
On Sunday Melina asked the fans "Who came for Helen, Who came to see others?..and where were people from "...and so on. At one point she asked " Who is from Seattle? ". Even pointed out Mom, noting her age of 91. Mom of course was embarrassed, but secretly I wish I had my camera on....as many of you know -I need a cameraman, a drone, or at least some 'handlers'.
Melena is so quick and sharp, often both she and Helen seemed more like a 'Stand Up' comedy duo.

Really, while the fantastic music was the reason we came, the other side comments, quick banter, jokes, and audience connections made for a most enjoyable time.
Also for us it was the meeting and connecting with various folks that was the highlight of of trip.
Mom felt she has new friends, such as helpful First aide guy- Rolf, every day checked on her, many other venue staff were just so friendly and helpful. Totally a well run, enjoyable profession place and production.
Each night we got to meet/chat briefly with Melena, Helen, the up and coming young performer girls.
It was that element that made for a touching experience. ( even the bus driver's comments and warm manor made me tear up as we got off that last bus...).
Meeting Helen was a special treat for me. Mom remarked just how pleasant and at ease she and Melena were...even late after long concert. Here they would stay for long time signing CDs and visiting fans. Fun to meet Melena's husband, Svante Thunberg. He gave a few extra CDs for my Seattle friends. Melena was so engaging and 'Cool' and here I don't mean because she was still wet from her amazing plunge off stage.

While sad to have it over I will hold the feelings, memories in my head/heart forever.

- tech note- pretty hard to keep connected, internet-wise, plus not sleep till midnight most days, so I tend to quick post on Facebook, edit later, add pics still later, and occasionally get energy to create a vid....so buyer beware, hope you signed the waiver and remember DON'T TELL MOM.

we had a wild ride getting here. Lack of sleep and adequate maps. Even missed the pre booked bus...and raced up the hill to Dalhalla, the venue, in an old limestone rock quarry.
We even missed the fancy pre-booked dinner, but found some clean glasses , got some water and in fact nice Jessica got us some special topped pizza, our favorite food group # 2.
We actually got escorted down into the deep quarry all the way to a stage door at bottom...where BANG ..we are right next to the star- Melena Ernman.  ... the opening number is starting and she almost turns to say welcome to us....but luckily I'm stopping mom from following Melena in...but the support staff and security are now noticing us..and very watchful.
After first number we are quietly escorted to our seats. A few may have noticed us? Well probably. Out seats our row 4 just left of center...we walked slowly down The Center Aisle.
I will post more descriptions soon...only have had few hours sleep lately, long drive from Stockholm, many more fun stories, mom lost her can, I lost my map abilities, cell phone lost connections, basics..just lost it.
But all better now because actually met and chatted with Helen and Malena. Hard to believe pulling this off..me being so stressed and mom...we...mom being 91.

 Annual Star Party 2017 will be 

Saturday Aug 12- Sunday Aug 13, 2017.

  For you usual friends and folks this should not be a surprise ....it has been on Aug 11/12/13 for 25 some years with me and before that of course the  PERSEID METEOR SHOWER has been occurring on these same dates for  a few hundred years, maybe more like way more...have to look that up.

So big change this year ...just back from Sweden and Norway..see Facebook or other blog posts here.  So will be stretched thin, creating Slip and Slide too...PLUS going with friend to Chelan in the morning.

So Bad news,,,none of below food stuff applies... only have little car, may forget sleep bags?
But GOOD NEWS is just stop at Dan's Aardvark Express ..Hurry for Curry Tell him my secret number and he may put it on my tab.  Get some soup or juice. Next to Chevron there at top of Pass.
Real peak is Sat so will be crowded my go to new spot..follow usual map ( joke).

I often have full description with menu details ( sausage/ huckleberry pancakes, bake potatoes) and Map ( exit 63) and equip list ( pad and remember your shoes brog) ...but right now I got to find my car 

and run some cash down to Seattle Public Utilities so they do not turn off the town houses' water ......ok ok I did leave a few things on my list when I flew off to Paris.

JUST IN CASE YOU ARE NEW AND I DON'T GET BACK TO MORE DETAILS....... ask around .. my star party is fun easy to get to ( about an hour) sometimes coldish....and we see always around 100 shooting stars = meteors ..one year with 42 people we counted 385. Most years with more like 15 or 20 friends we see 122 or if cloudy then only 85. I have left seattle in the drizzle  and full cloud cover to find the mountain ( over the Pass)  broken clouds getting to sun/clear. ...in 22 years i think Willie and 1 were skunked like one time.  ..then there is the famous  2  +1/2 hour Aurora show of ? 2002...made headlines on that Paisley LIght show...i still swear I could hear them....

Look it is about an hour drive up to a mountain road (X 63..cabin creek) then up a shortish log road ( 2122 of course, not making that up) to the very top at about 4000 feet. Just car camping at usual spot, if you forgot to check the people list and don't fit well just an hour and you are home or 12 minutes to the real bathroom at the Pass.

Added tasty bonus tracks== Owen's Meats in Cle Elum and Lake Easton Park cold dip/clean off/ nap. ..Also potential XXX Root Beer stop on way home..but usual we are too sleepy to do more than a RB float...

Some have come at after midnight and gotten up at 6 am to get to work....you know like the MYSTERY FAMILY  who comes and goes every year, still who knows who they were??

We always go on the Peak which is Monday morning......I checked 7 websites and majority say Peak is Sun/Mon...yeah the paper etc say just this weekend...yeah yeah..that is when "Bob" comes on Saturday night.

But really Sunday will be best, hope for clear skys,,,, hmm if not could be a fast upgrade? never happen before....

Bring some pad or chair we stay up mostly then nap till like 2 am is best and then they start working, the small moon sets about midnight i think?  I can get cold and windy so they tell me, I never wear socks or ? 

I will bring some stove some water some meats and mustard. If you want coffee bring that.  No political canvasing allowed ( joke from 1996), No green pea soup please ...hmm unless it is warm.

Follow the orange flagging...carpool or watch out for many rocks and ditches esp towards the last 1/2 mile it is rough and perhaps closed like they threaten every year....

What else. I bring a big big tarp and we just plank out on pads and such and as Jack Horkheimer says  KEEP LOOKING UP....

Rule #27 Annual Star Party up Snoqualmie Pass

but thought I'd mention quickly  my Annual Star Party 2017 will be

So OK THIS year will be different than below description..I am creating Slip and Slide and driving to Chelan Sunday only in small car. So for first time in 27 years I will not provide pancakes...maybe cold one from Dan at Aardvark. 
And prob just Hurry for Curry for dinner/snacks. See Facebook of course. Stop at pass right at top near chevron gas station...tell Dan I sent you. Grab food. PERFECT. It's sort of a fancy
